Our intended audience
PreppingForHealth.ca is written for adults and families looking for practical, general information about healthy living — whether you’re just getting started or looking for fresh ideas.
Our content is general. It isn’t tailored to any individual, and it isn’t designed for people managing a specific medical condition, pregnancy, an eating disorder or a specialised diet. In those situations, please seek advice from a qualified health professional.

Our editorial approach
How we research, write, review and update content.
Content accuracy principles
- We prioritise public health authorities (such as Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada), professional guidelines and peer-reviewed research.
- Every article lists its references, with links you can check.
- We never invent research, statistics or citations.
- We separate well-established information from evidence that is uncertain or still emerging.
- We avoid fear-based or misleading headlines, and we don’t claim that any food, product, supplement or routine cures or prevents disease.
Review and updates
- Every article shows a publication date and a “last reviewed” date.
- We check articles against their sources when guidance changes, and at least once a year.
- Content that discusses potentially sensitive health topics is reviewed before publication. Professional reviewer details will be shown only when verified.
- Spotted an error or outdated information? Tell us and we’ll review it promptly.
Advertising and affiliate links
We don’t currently use affiliate links, sponsored content or advertising. If that changes, affiliate links and commercial relationships will be clearly disclosed on the page where they appear, and they will never influence our health information.
Not medical advice
Our content is educational and is not a substitute for individual medical care. We can’t diagnose, treat or give personal advice. Always talk to a qualified health professional about your own health. Read our health disclaimer.
Our commitment to accessible health education
Health information should be available to everyone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we:
- write in plain language and explain technical terms,
- use readable fonts, good colour contrast and resizable text,
- support keyboard navigation and screen readers,
- provide text alternatives for images, and
- avoid relying on colour alone to communicate information.
If something on the site is hard to use, please let us know so we can fix it.
